Student Council Representive

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What is the student council?

At WIS in the PYP, it is a great opportunity for students to play an active, positive role in the life of their school. Representatives are a voice for the student body and can have input and give ideas of events throughout the year. The student council comes up with ideas of how we can support various charity and fundraising as a whole school. Student council representatives are also role models of the way we as international IB Learners are striving to be. They are there as a support and model to other Primary students.

How to become a member of student council:
  • Students who are keen to be a representative can put their names forward to the Homeroom Teacher.
  • The class then votes for the representative by secret ballot.
  • One student is selected per class per grade level from Grade 1 through to Grade 5.
Elected representatives need to make themselves available to attend weekly student council meetings which will be held each Tuesday during the second break (11:40). The students just need to bring along their food to eat while we discuss ideas and matters that concern the Primary Student Council.
Student’s role:

Representatives act as a channel of communication within the school and model the following:

I show Commitment to my role in being part of the Primary Student Council.

  • I am Open minded and a Communicator, giving student voice and opinion to the improvement of our school.
  • I am Caring in my support of fellow students in our school.
  • I am Principled and show myself to be a role model to others.
  • I take ACTION in improving our school and supporting the community around me.
  • (from Ms.Avril)

I would like to congratulate: David, Zara, and Gien for being great candidates. After serval voting, we finally have a representative.

          Congratulation to David!!!
