Great collaboration with Grade 8 English class on Wednesday morning.

The students made a connection between the English language and the Unit of Inquiry. Older students use the basic questions to find out more about their new friends from Grade 1 and create a masterpiece. We are waiting for part two, where Grade 8 students will present the poems. We will have 15 different ways of expressing thoughts, likes, and opinions onto a paper.
How will they express themselves !!!

Nurses at WIS!

On Wednesday nurses made a basic check-up of Grade 1 and Grade 5 students. All this happened in Ms.Sharon room.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here are some updates.

  • Thank you so much for your support during Book Week
  • The nurses from the Ministry of Health did not visit WIS last week as expected, but we have rescheduled and now expect them to examine and immunize your children as per your completed and signed permission forms on Wednesday the 27th February 2019. The immunization cards (Health Passports) will be returned to you soon after. Please contact Ms. Sharon if you have further questions.

  • Please read HAS for the next week.

Unpacking Inquiry                    Ã™†Ã˜ÂªÃ™ŠÃ˜¬Ã˜© بحØ« اÙ„صور عÙ† â€Âªhow we express ourselves‬‏

If you have ever peeled an onion?  If you did, you know that the first thin, papery layer reveals another thin, papery layer, and that layer reveals another and another, and before you know it you have hundreds of layers all over the kitchen table and thousands of tears in your eyes. After peeling the onion,  students tried to make a connection with a book. We page a book, in almost the same way we peel the onion,  sometimes we cry, sometimes we laugh.

Students had something to think about it. When you peel the onion it renews itself; when you chopped it brings tears. How is this related to the book?

Students also explored a variety of different artifacts such as typewriter, feather and ink, old and new books, iPads, audio story, puppets, and telephones. With some interesting provocation we were able to answer some of those questions:

What do you know about these things?  How do we use them? and What could we make with them?
Students slowly making a connection with the inquiry.
