This was an exciting and very interesting unit. Students worked in groups and with a partner. Some of them loved it some of them found difficult.
The goal was to work together in a group to identify and solve real-life problems in our environment. Students showed their understanding of how communication and cooperation can facilitate problem-solving and make our lives easier. They applied and transferred this understanding in the practical suggestions for solving the problems in the environment around them.
Students findings are recorded and saved on Seesaw. Photos and the process of cooperation and communication were captured by snapshots.
We used Six Thinking Hats to help us solve many problems. Six Thinking Hats was created by Edward de Bono.
De Bono's Six Thinking Hats is a powerful technique for looking at decision making from different points of view.
A "thinking cap" is an imaginary hat that helps you focus on your thinking.
Task 1 :
Students worked in small groups to solve this problem. 'Ms. Beata's grid book is finished. How can you solve this problem?'.
After collaborating with each other and selecting the best idea to solve the problem student tested the idea and evaluate the results.
Red thinking hat: No book, no work more free choice for us
Black thinking hat: No school work, no learning, This is not good.
Task 2:
Task 2 was a mathematical problem. Students worked with a partner. We focused on:

Task 3: Unit assessment

White thinking hat- They focused on facts and didn't waste time. They worked independently. I didn't even have a chance to take a photo.
They got the book from the Grade 2 teacher.

As you see students were busy using thinking and communication skills, Learner Profile Attributes, and Attitudes- Open-minded and Cooperation.
We are successfully reaching to the end.
Our tools during this unit were definitely a teamwork, Learner Profile Attributes, and Attitudes.
Please find time next week to discuss the photographs on the blog. It will be a good reflection for all of the students. I'm sure you will understand better your child's work. You are welcome to ask me questions related to this unit task.
Kind Regards
Ms.Beata
